Newhouse Holidays
New House Farm is a traditional family farm on the Derbyshire Limestone, about 8 miles from the set of Peak Practice and Alton Towers. The house dates from Tudor times and is in an area rich in archaeology. The farmstead is nestled on the side of the hill with extensive views to the west of the Peak District. The village of Kniveton is about 1/2 a mile away and has a pub, which serves family meals. The Georgian market town of Ashbourne is 4 miles away. Carsington reservoir with its many recreational amenities is 2 miles away. Dovedale is a lovely 5-mile walk. Chatsworth House is 12 miles away. There is a good local bus service.
The farm is organic, with high standards of animal welfare and wildlife biodiversity. Vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat and some groceries are for sale from the farm shop. There is an archaeological way-marked farm trail with guide. Small areas of the farm are used for experimental permaculture. There are chickens, ducks, geese, goats, ponies, dogs and cats in and around the farmyard.
We serve organic and free range and fairtrade foods wherever possible. In addition to traditional fare, vegetarians, vegans or fruitarians are welcome. Families with children are particularly welcome. We have an enclosed garden with activity toys. We offer children's teas, light suppers and baby-sitting. TV and radio are available in your room. We aim to provide simple but comfortable and low cost accommodation within an informal family farming atmosphere.
The following accommodation is available:
